Katya Krausova is a London-based independent television producer / director whose work has been broadcast on national television channels and screened at prestigious film festivals around the world. She arrived in Britain following the 1968 Soviet-led invasion of Czechoslovakia. Educated at the London School of Economics and Oxford University, Krausova joined the BBC, where she produced programmes ranging from international political investigations to profiles of well-known artists and performers from Sir Georg Solti to the Royal Ballet. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall she worked throughout the former Soviet bloc countries and eastern central Europe. She is a co-founder of the leading UK independent film and television production company Portobello Pictures, which won the 1997 Best Foreign Language Film Oscar for Kolya. She divides her activities between media management consultancy and documentary work such as Last Folio.
